The Indian delegation will be visiting Washington, New York and Boston in the course of the trip and will interact with FBI director Robert Mueller and US attorney general Eric Holder.

As part of the Homeland Security dialogue, Shinde and Napolitano are slated to discuss home grown terror, megacity policing project and improving forensic skills for speedy investigation and better conviction.

Mumbai police commissioner Satyapal is accompanying Shinde to get an idea of the intricacies of megacity policing in New York. When implemented, the megacity policing project is going to involve eight Indian cities including New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Pune.

Security dialogue to begin today
Washington: The four-day India-US Homeland Security dialogue between Sushil Kumar Shinde and his American counterpart Janet Napolitano will begin on Tuesday.

Threats from terror groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and al-Qaeda, illicit financing and transnational crimes are high on their agenda. Both the sides are expected to take stock of existing mechanisms such as the joint working group on counter-terrorism and the counter-terrorism cooperation initiative in advancing Indo-US cooperation.
