Fennel in India today to review Games preparation

Commonwealth Games Federation chief Michael Fennell will be arriving in New Delhi today to review Games preparations, even as Canada delayed arrival of their contingents by two days.

Commonwealth Games Federation chief Michael Fennell will be arriving in New Delhi on Thursday to review Games preparations. He is likely to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to press for his intervention for smooth run of the mega sporting event.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today visited the Games Village and reviewed the state of affairs there.

Canada has delayed arrival of their contingents by two days as England, Scotland, New Zealand, Australia slammed the preparations the Games village over hygiene and cleanliness.

CGF had sought PM's intervention after Fennell wrote a letter to Cabinet Secretary on Monday, Sep 20 on the sorry state of the Games Village.

On Tuesday, The Prime Minister summoned Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Tejinder Khanna on Tuesday and directed him to personally oversee the preparations and submit a day-to-day status report to him.
