Garment trader robbed of Rs 34 lakh in East Delhi

A garment trader was allegedly beaten up and Rs 34.5 lakh robbed from him by some men in a car in Gandhi Nagar, East Delhi, on Sunday night.

A garment trader was allegedly beaten up and Rs 34.5 lakh robbed from him by some men in a car in Gandhi Nagar, East Delhi, on Sunday night.

Police said Harish Mehndiratta was on his way home along with another employee in his Honda City car when armed men in a Swift car intercepted their vehicle near Gandhi Nagar flyover. The incident was reported around 9 pm on Sunday.

“My brother was driving and his employee was sitting besides them. They were returning home after collecting the cash payment of two days. The robbers intercepted the car, smashed the windowpanes and beat up my brother before fleeing with the cash kept in two bags,” said Kailash Mehndiratta, brother of the victim.

Police said the victim even gave the robbers a chase till Shanti Van in Central Delhi but lost them after that. The victim told the police that there were at least eight men in the Swift car. The police have begun investigations in the case.
