Pierrot’s Ghalib In New Delhi places the Bard in a contemporary setting. The comedy sees Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib revisiting his beloved ‘Dehli’ in 2010 to witness not only his posthumous fame, but also the hyped and reviled Commonwealth Games. The plot revolves around Ghalib striving against an identity crisis, beginning with the occupants of his haveli mistaking him as Ghalib’s djinn. This forces him to stay in a servant quarter. People recognise his worth only through the voice of Jagjit Singh, and the screen portrayal of Naseeruddin Shah.
