The GoM, set up on May 14 following the Supreme Court's direction to free the investigating agency from political control, was briefed by Attorney General GE Vahanvati.

The meeting was inconclusive and the next meeting would be held in second week of June. The government has to inform the SC by July 3 of the steps being taken to insulate the CBI.
