The Delhi government has busted a fake certificate racket in Saidulajab area of Saket in South Delhi.

The district magistrate got an initial survey done in the area and two teams conducted the raid on Thursday and found documents, including the application forms of the persons for getting various documents such as income certificate, caste certificates, voter cards, etc.

“During the raid of a one storey house in Saidulajab on IGNOU Road, documents pertaining to various districts were found. Certain certificates that seemed original and were ready for distribution were also found stacked in the place. Also, certain documents being utilised to produce forged documents in various cases were also found,” said a Delhi government spokesperson.

“One electricity bill of 1988 was found which appears to be forged for names of different persons and was allegedly shown as a proof of residence for making an OBC certificate. Certain stamps and seals of various designations were found that could be used to attest the documents with forged signatures,” the spokesperson added.

Two persons Govind Ram and Amit were detained and questioned. “Two CPUs alongwith documents and other materials have been seized which will divulge a lot of information in the matter. They are being sent for forensic examination,” the spokesperson added.

The government has advised the public to refrain from approaching such persons to get certificates issued. The police have been questioning the two accused and more people are likely to be called in for interrogation.

No FIR in the matter was registered till late Thursday night. “We have to verify the claims made by the government officials following which a case will be registered,” the police said.

The police on Tuesday had arrested four members of a gang who used to forge documents to get EWS certificates issued in imaginary names. They would then used the same to help people get their children admitted to nursery in various schools in return for money.
