Water gushed in the media briefing room from the roof as mediapersons hurried for cover even as party spokesperson Jayanthi Natarajan was addressing the press.

Within minutes, the media room was full of ankle deep water as the attendants hurriedly switched off the power
supply and asked the mediapersons to vacate the hall, fearing an electric short circuit.

The party office was revamped recently as several drainage outlets were constructed in the complex where there
is no outlet for rain water.

On Akbar Road, it was knee-deep water as the drainage system was blocked and several vehicles broke down in the
water throwing traffic out of gear.

The regulars at the AICC said that they had not seen such a situation in the last few years.

It took over an hour for the water to clear even as the NDMC personnel started checking the sewerage system and
removing the blockages on the manholes.
