Hi, I am a health freak. I want to become a personal trainer, but I haven’t done any specialisation or any course regarding health and fitness. Please guide me.

Vishal Singh

Dr Som answers:

Hi Vishal, yours is a smart choice. But it is a tough one too. Not only do you have to be active, but also willing to be on the move. You have to motivate and implement your own fitness, before you begin to lead, guide and organise activities. You should also have a knowledge of fitness equipment, diet, nutrition and physiology.

Hello, I read the piece on publishing. I am hearing impaired and want your suggestion in this matter. I have been trying to get a job for the last four years.

Pooja Bajaj

Saugata Mukherjee answers:

It’s best you join a course in publishing first. Depends on what you want to do. Maybe the design department would be a good place for you. This is one of the more exciting roles in publishing.

Can graduates from any discipline join?

Shivani Behl

Saugata Mukherjee answers:

Yes, of course. You need to have a good post-graduate degree (best if it is in the Humanities/Social Sciences). But even engineering/medical/law graduates can get into publishing – especially in academic/textbook publishing companies. But a course in publishing should help.

Can I get a list of the publishing houses who work in the area of school publishing?

S Ray

Saugata Mukherjee answers:

Oxford University Press, Pearson Education, McGraw Hill, Madhuban, Orient ongman, Cambridge University Press
