Huda said the administration could have resolved the matter early, without causing untoward inconvenience to him.

Huda was arrested from an Emirates flight to Dubai on Wednesday after a woman passenger misinterpreted his telephonic conversation and raised an alarm.

Delhi police dropped all charges against him on Saturday.

Talking to HT, Huda shied away from answering if he would take action against the officials behind his arrest. Surrounded by friends and well-wishers, Huda said he was undecided on the issue but did not rule it out either.

“I was mentally tortured even when I was not keeping well,” said Huda, a father of five who was on way to Dubai to deliver a religious lecture.

He added that the issue would be taken to the highest level of government and that secularism would prevail in the end. On Saturday, Huda got back his mobile phone that the police had seized it for "technical examination."

He was also handed over the luggage seized by the police that was frisked every inch manually and also through X ray scanners several times after he was offloaded from the aircraft.

Kari Ayuub Hasan, one of those present at the meeting, said, “This is not the first case of injustice meted out to Muslims. The apparent prejudice must be encountered in the strictest possible actions.”
