They were taken to the Safdurjung Hospital after they complained of abdominal pain. According to sources, 500 students were given the tablets on Thursday. “Of them, 15 students of Class VI complained of stomach ache and vomited in the school,” the source said. The doctors at the Safdurjung Hospital said all of them were discharged after treatment.

The incident took place a day after 23 students from different took ill after consuming the iron tablets that were distributed as part of the Delhi government’s Weekly Iron and Folic Acid Supplementation (WIFS) programme. All of them were discharged later.

The Delhi government had said that the students had fallen prey to the side-effects of iron tablets and assured that things will return to normal once their bodies get used to the drug.
