Rahul reportedly wasn’t in the Capital on Tuesday when Kalawati addressed the media.

“I am here to remind Rahul Gandhi of the promises he made. Nothing has changed in my life. I continue to live without a house, without healthcare in my village,’’ she said. She is the widow of a farmer who committed suicide and Rahul had stayed at her house in 2008.

“Wherever she goes now the administration says Kalawati, why don’t you go and ask Rahul Gandhi himself,” added Jitendra Deshmukh, an activist who was with her.

But the Congress claims to be helping her. “The Congress and the Youth Congress have helped her earlier and we will continue to do so whenever she requires,” said Ashok Tanwar, Youth Congress chief.
