Accused in the 2G spectrum scam case, DMK MP Kanimozhi and Kalaignar TV MD Sharad Kumar, moved the Supreme Court on Friday seeking bail. They have challenged the Delhi high court verdict rejecting them bail.

"We have filed a special leave petition on behalf of both Kanimozhi and Kumar challenging the high court order," senior advocate VG Pragasam said. The plea is likely to be taken up for hearing on Monday.
The high court had on June 8 dismissed the bail pleas of Kanimozhi and Kumar, saying they have strong political connections and there was possibility of them influencing the witnesses and interfering with the investigation.
"Since the petitioners are in control of Kalaignar TV, they are in position of power to influence witnesses, particularly the company employees. They have got strong political connections. Kanimozhi belongs to the same political party to which accused A Raja belongs and the said party shares power in the Centre", the HC said.
Considering their financial and political clout, a possibility cannot be ruled out that if freed, they would interfere with the investigation or try to influence the witnesses", court had added
The CBI has charged Kanimozhi and Kumar with having played a key role in the DMK-owned Kalaignar TV receiving R200 crore, allegedly bribe money, from group companies of DB Realty promoter Shahid Balwa for award of 2G licence to Swan Telecom.
Both Kanimozhi and Kumar have 20% stake each in the TV channel.
