Kohli succeeds Harshvardhan, who came under criticism after the party lost the battle for power in assembly elections.

In his first speech, Kohli, a veteran politician, told party workers at the Delhi BJP ofdice to start preparing for the Lok Sabha elections due in April-May.

"There is not much difference between the percentage of votes secured by the BJP and the Congress in the assembly elections. BJP workers should start preparation to win all the seven seats in the Lok Sabha elections," Kohli told his supporters.

Harshvardhan became the Delhi BJP president Dec 19, 2003.
