The police said Himanshu Sharma, a coaching institute owner, was shot dead by a security guard allegedly at the behest of the petrol pump’s manager.

Himanshu, his cousin and two friends had gone to the convenience store at the petrol pump at about 10.30 pm.

“They ordered some snacks,” said P.K. Sharma, Himanshu’s father, who runs an engineering firm. “Meanwhile, my son got down from his car and started relieving himself near the petrol pump. The manager shouted at him and then called out some employees. These men attacked Himanshu and his friends with iron chains and rods.”

He said when Himanshu and the others tried to run towards the car, the manager shouted at the guard to stop his son and shoot at him.

“The guard pulled Himanshu out of the car and shot him in the chest,” said P.K. Sharma.

The security guard, Chandgi Ram Tripathi (30), was arrested later on Wednesday.
