MCD asked to explain delay in demolition

Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) on Thursday issued a notice to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to demolish 35 of its school buildings, that were declared dangerous two years ago. HT reports.

Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) on Thursday issued a notice to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to demolish 35 of its school buildings, that were declared dangerous two years ago.

The notice asked the civic body to explain why there was delay in the demolition of these school buildings.

“The commission views it as a serious violation of section 9 of the RTE Act which earmarks the responsibility of the concerned organisation to provide infrastructure including buildings...” said a press release issued by DCPCR.
