A special meeting of the MCD house on Friday to present the annual budget estimate was disrupted by opposition Congress members.

This is the first time such a thing has happened ever since the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) came into being in 1958.
The Mayor has now convened another meeting on Monday for the presentation of the budget.
As soon as the members assembled, Satvir Sharma, Congress councillor from Kishengarh, wanted to know why, despite an announcement in December that each member would get R50 lakh as additional councilor fund, the administration did not comply with it.
Commissioner KS Mehra replied, “If the proposal to this effect is presented in today’s budget and the House passes it, we will give the funds.”
This, however, did not satisfy the Opposition, who promptly rushed to the well and shouted slogans.
The disruption continued for 50 minutes when an exasperated Yogender Chandolia, chairman of the MCD’s standing committee, stood up and laid the budget document on the house table. Immediately after this, the BJP leaders left the hall.
