After two months of discussions, MCD presented its final budget on Monday, that had proposals quite similar to the ones doing the rounds for the last two-three years.

The MCD recycled old proposals such as constructing women toilets, constructing gymnasiums in community centres, providing mechanical sweepers for cleaning the roads, introducing e-governance in its functioning, constructing road over and underbridges.
A number of these projects are being implemented at a snail’s pace.
In 2010, 2009 and 2008, Subhash Arya, the leader of the House in his budget had focused on these same projects. MCD has been making tall claims of constructing multi-level parking lits in the city for the past seven years but not a singe one is ready yet.
When asked about the delay Arya said, “It takes a long time to get the required permission from the Central government, which delays projects.”
Congress councillor Farhad Suri criticised the move by the civic body and said, “For the past three years, the same proposals are being repeated and most of them are not implemented.”
