“We had sent notices about a week ago and when our sealing team reached the guesthouse, it had already been emptied of the residents,” said an official.

In November, the MCD central zone had sealed a dozen paying guest accommodations at South Extension as a warning. Guesthouses in Karol Bagh had also come under MCD scanner in November but were spared after its legislative wing intervened. The MCD also demolished eight properties in Chattarpur, five in Sainik Farm, two in Aya Nagar and one in Vasant Vihar area. More demolitions are expected to continue on Wednesday.

The MCD also demolished and sealed illegal portions in 20 properties in central and Rohini Zones. The demolitions also took place at Pul Pehladpur, Sangam Vihar, Vishwakarma Colony, Jasola, and Tughlaqabad Extension. In Rohini Zone, demolitions and sealing took place at Sector 16, 13 and Keshavpuram.
