The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will launch a one-month-long special sanitation-cum-cleanliness drive on Friday. Mayor Rajni Abbi will launch the drive in Chandni Chowk at the Gauri Shankar Mandir near Red Fort. And all zonal chairpersons will launch the drive simultaneously in their zones.

Abbi said that the drive will focus on three major areas: sanitation audit, accountability and result-orientation. All three departments—environment management services, engineering and horticulture will coordinate with one another. "The mayor will personally check the sanitation condition of all areas," said Deep Mathur, director, press and information, MCD.
Leader of the House, Subhash Arya said that each ward will be divided into four parts for the drive. "We will ensure that demolition and construction wastes are removed, greenery is upgraded and colonies are made garbage-free every day. We will make sure that all storm water drains are thoroughly desilted before the monsoons," said Arya.
