According to official figures, 11 out of these 34 cases do not belong to the city.

Delhi has officially reported two deaths due to dengue so far this season.

The Delhi government on the other hand has reported two more deaths due to dengue taking the toll to four.

However, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) that maintains official data regarding dengue, apart from the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), has claimed that one of the deceased did not belong to Delhi and the other person's reports were not confirmed for dengue.

“We only record cases belonging to Delhi after thoroughly verifying the test results of the patient. The state government doesn’t have field staff to verify ground facts about the disease. Our field staff collects information about dengue from each zone,” said NK Yadav, medical health officer, MCD.

This year breeding was found in 42,476 houses by the field staff of the civic agency.

The civic bodies had acted tough by issuing more than 6,000 challans in a single day.
