More operators for online property tax payment

With this the total number of such counters will go up to 15.

“The total number of terminals provided to accept online property tax in all four zones of the civic body has now become 60. The arrangement has been made to facilitate property tax payers, who are not well versed with the online process. Sixty data entry operators have been engaged for the purpose,” said assessor and collector BN Singh.

He added that a new helpline has also been launched for taxpayers.

Singh said online property tax returns during the financial year 2012-13 was 62%.

“However, this year the online returns will go up to 80%. The two per cent rebate for filing tax online — in case of a maximum liability of R5,000 — has attracted taxpayers. The process is less cumbersome also,” said an official.

All zonal tax offices will be opened for the people on June 22, 28, 29 and 30.
