The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police is confident of nabbing the main accused Raju Gehlot. The police, on Tuesday, claimed that the arrest of one of Gehlot’s relatives — Naveen Shokeen, 25, — who allegedly harboured him, led to the breakthrough in the case.

Shokeen told police that Gehlot — a Masters’ Diploma holder in tourism management from the College of Vocational Studies and an absentee employee of Indian Airlines — allegedly murdered Solanki.

“We have arrested Shokeen for providing a hideout to Solanki in his home and charged him for intentionally harbouring and concealing an accused,” said Ashok Chand, deputy commissioner of police (Crime).

Shokeen told police that Gehlot had called him early morning on February 11 and asked for a vehicle. “He said Gehlot told him he had killed Neetu and wanted a vehicle to dispose the body,” Chand said.

He claimed that Gehlot murdered Neetu using a sharp-edged weapon and inflicted a fatal blow to her neck. Also, there were three fist blows and two cuts on her body.

Gehlot visited Shokeen on February 13 and left the next day. He returned six days later and stayed for five days, after which he again left the place, police said.
