Police rely on narco-analysis test to glean the truth out of offenders who they see as not cooperating. The test has been widely used to interrogate offenders in many high-profile cases, though the findings are still not acceptable in courts.

Metropolitan Magistrate DK Sharma allowed the test after police told the court 21-year-old Parvinder was not cooperating.

Parvinder is accused of killing Varun Malik, 21, at a market in Vasant Kunj on November 28. A resident of a southwest locality of Vasant Kunj, Malik had gone to the market with three friends, including Parvinder, to eat ice cream.

He was killed when Parvinder alias Moti took out a revolver and pulled the trigger. Police said it was still not clear whether it was an accident or deliberate.

Malik’s two other friends who were with him rushed him to a private hospital, where he died. Whether it was intentional or not, the two men who took him to hospital reportedly did not call the police. The hospital authorities called the police.

These men, also eyewitnesses to the incident, told police Moti sat shocked at the market, holding his head in repentance.
Malik was a student at the Dronacharya Engineering College. His father is a builder.
