Newly-wed woman found dead in Palam Vihar, parents blame in-laws

A 19-year-old woman, who got married four months ago, was found hanging at her house in Palam Vihar, south-west Delhi.

A 19-year-old woman, who got married four months ago, was found hanging at her house in Palam Vihar, south-west Delhi. The police said deceased named Sadhana got married to one Chandan Kumar on January 29.

Sadhana’s family members alleged that her’s in-laws informed them about her death on Saturday. Her brother, Vikash, alleged that she was harassed for dowry. In his police complaint, he alleged that after a few weeks of getting married, she had complained of being harassed by her in-laws.

“We chose to keep quiet hoping that they would mend their ways. But that was not the case. My sister was regularly beaten for dowry. They have killed her,” he said.

The police said they have detained Sadhana’s husband, Chandan Kumar, in connection with the case. Kumar is learnt to have told the police that he was out with his parents when Sadhana took her life on Saturday.
