Next up: liver transplants

While some units of your hospital are state-of-the-art, others like cardio-thoracic vascular surgery are neglected...We are carrying out work in a phased manner. CCTVS are next on my priority (in the next six months).

What is the next new thing your hospital will offer and what is its timeline?
Liver transplants. We have a complete team needed for liver transplant surgery, headed by Dr Anil Agarwal. The OT will be ready by March and by July we should be good to start.

Your hospital has always been criticized for not having any emergency services. Comments?
We are starting a centralized emergency department in the ground floor of the new building. It will also have a dedicated stroke unit.

What are your plans for this institution?
The type of healthcare and teaching our faculty offers should be of international standards. I am building the infrastructure and by next year we will be ready with all the basics needed for an advanced world-class healthcare set-up.

Why is quality accreditation important?
It helps us quantify all aspects of our functioning. Once we have our numbers, we will know the areas, which need work and need to be improved upon.
