Nine flights diverted as bad weather hampers air traffic

Bad weather once again hampered flight movement at the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Sunday. Nine flights had to be diverted to airports like Jaipur, Lucknow and Ahmedabad with strong winds near Delhi affecting flight movement. Between 8.40pm and 11pm on Sunday, one international and eight domestic flights were diverted.

“The weather conditions were expected to worsen and the Delhi airport witnessed strong winds with 90 kmph velocity,” said RK Jenamani, director-in-charge, IGIA met unit. “Apart from the squall and strong wind, visibility also dipped to 500 metres during that period,” he said.
