While passport, driving license, property documents among others can be used as an identity proof, the commission has said that ration card will not be admitted as a document of identity.

“Many times, people included in the voter list don’t go out and vote as they don’t have an elector photo identification card. We have given a list of other ID proofs that can be used in lieu of that,” said Rakesh Mehta, election commissioner.
