The corporation will choose a couple of toilets in the pilot project and give them to a contractor. Based on the results, the rest of the toilets will be given on contract.

"The corporation workers do not clean the urinals regularly. There is also scarcity of labour which is forcing us to experiment with privatising them and see if there is any change in their maintenance," said Mahender Nagpal, leader of the House.

The decision was taken at the House meeting on Monday after councillors complained of how the corporation is unable to keep public toilets in the city clean.
