Singh's intervention followed concern expressed by Justice Kapadia about the security in the SC and Delhi high court after Wednesday's bomb blast outside the high court.

Earlier during the day, the home ministry's secretary (internal security) UK Bansal, had sent out an advisory to all the police chiefs of states and Union territories, asking them to go for a comprehensive review of security arrangements of the high courts under their jurisdiction.

The CCTV cameras should be operationalised, quick response teams of commandos should be deployed to enhance security.

Since several protagonists belonging to terror outfits like the Babbar Khalsa and LTTE are on death row, the advisory also asked them to keep a close watch on the activists of these two organisations and, keep the National Investigation Agency and the home ministry posted in case some suspicious activivity is detected.

At the SC, a three-layered security ring has been put in place with lawyers and litigants being subjected to frisking first at the main gates, followed by the inner gates and thereafter, outside the courtrooms.

Delhi Police commandos were deployed at important points in the apex court complex and a posse of other category of police personnel kept a strict vigil.
