Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit inaugurated the baraat ghar in the presence of Parimal Rai, NDMC chairman and other council members.

This baraat ghar, situated near the Lok Nayak Bhawan at Khan Market area, is surrounded by Humanyun Road and Subramanian Marg. It was constructed in 1989 and, therefore, it was upgraded to include facilities of a modern banquet hall.

Ramps for wheelchairs have been provided in this building. It has also been equipped with fire fighting system. The renovation work has been carried out at a cost of R3.10 crore in a record period of 10 months. Around 800 people can be accommodated in the baraat ghar at a time.

It is the fifth air-conditioned baraat ghar of the NDMC that has been renovated in the past few months. Earlier, baraat ghars were opened at Kaka Nagar, Moti Bagh, Lodhi Colony and Netaji Nagar.
