The Delhi Police have arrested a 24-year-old man, who used to ferry passengers in his rickshaw during the day, and commit robberies at their houses at night.

The arrest came following an investigation into the murder of a senior citizen, whose body was found inside his Ramesh Nagar house in September last year.
The accused, identified as Mahadev Jha, was arrested from Bihar, where he had shifted after committing the murder.
While questioning locals, police found one rickshaw puller missing from the area. “Jha is a habitual criminal and has been involved in five cases of theft. He used to work as a rickshaw puller in the day to identify his targets, and at night he would rob their houses,” said Devendra Arya, additional DCP (west).
The senior citizen, Vilayat Chand Satia, 75, was found murdered on September 28 last year. His neck was found tied to a table with a nylon rope.
On the complaint of the victim’s son-in-law, a case of robbery and murder was registered at the Kirti Nagar police station.
During interrogation, Jha disclosed that Satia hired his rickshaw to a wine shop at Bali Nagar on the fateful day.
Later, Jha dropped Satia to his home at Ramesh Nagar.
“Later, Jha returned to Satia’s house to rob it. Satia, however, saw him inside the house. Fearing that he would be caught, Jha strangled Satia and took a gold chain, a gold ring and Rs. 18,000 cash from the house,” Arya added.
Jha was brought to Delhi on a transit remand from Bihar. Further investigations are on to recover the robbed articles.
