Around 4.30 pm on August 14, Abhik Majumdar’s car hit another vehicle, that had made a sudden turn, leading to an altercation. In his complaint to the police, Majumdar said, “The driver of the car threatened me, while a woman in the car slapped me and threatened saying she would strip and implicate me in a false case.”

When he tried to call the police, Majumdar was beaten up by the driver and some of his cronies who lived in the area. The police have registered a case under Section 308 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC.

This is the fourth case of road rage reported in the city in the past month. In two of the incidents, the victims were thrashed to death.
