Shobhit case: HC notice to cops

The Delhi High Court, on a petition of murdered student Shobhit Modi's father, today issued notices to Delhi Police and the home ministry asking why the case should not be handed over to the CBI.

The Delhi High Court, on a petition of murdered student Shobhit Modi's father, Wednesday issued notices to Delhi Police and the home ministry asking why the case should not be handed over to the CBI.

Justice Mukta Gupta asked the ministry and Delhi Police to reply by Sep 13.

Modi's family Monday appealed to the Delhi High Court for a CBI inquiry into the case, lashing out at Delhi Police for what they called an inefficient and tardy investigation.

Shobhit, a 20-year-old student, was stabbed to death close to his home in south Delhi May 5. Despite questioning hundreds of people, the police have found no clues to the killing.
