Train service on the 22.7-km corridor got suspended for 45 minutes — between 5.15pm and 6pm — on Monday evening. However, it could not be ascertained whether any commuter missed a flight due to the delay.

"One of the trains witnessed some delay near Delhi Aerocity metro station due to a minor problem with the driver's cabin door. However, our technicians and OCC controllers resolved the issue within 20 minutes. Normal services were regained immediately after that," said a spokesperson of Reliance Infrastructure, the concessionaire company.

"This kind of minor incident can happen anywhere across the world," he added.

Lalit Jalan, CEO and director of Reliance Infrastructure, during an interaction with HT on February 5 had said: "The trains and tracks have certain unique features so that metro service on the Expressline does not face any technical snag."

However, it was learnt from sources that the train (number 05) halted at the station for about 45 minutes.

The evening peak hour at the airport starts at 5pm and the footfall increases between 5pm and 8pm.
