South corp demands compensation

The South Delhi Municipal Corporation has sent notices to NHAI and Delhi - Gurgaon Expressway concessionaire, asking them to cough up Rs 4.5 crore.

The South Delhi Municipal Corporation has sent notices to NHAI and Delhi - Gurgaon Expressway concessionaire, asking them to cough up Rs 4.5 crore.

Officials saidthis is the amount that the corporation has lost during the 15-day period in which the concessionaire did not collect any tax. The sum SDMC has demanded as compensation for its losses is Rs 4.25 crore apart from legal expenses that the civic agency incurred in the meanwhile which is to the tune of Rs 25 lakh or the actual sum, whichever more.

The 15-day restriction on collection of toll on the expressway comes to an end on Thursday.
