Springdales, Pusa Road hosts Australian minister

Springdales School, Pusa Road, will host senator Chris Evans, Australian minister of tertiary education, skills, jobs and workplace relations, as part of a programme which commemorates the 13 years of the Australian - India Principals Exchange.

Springdales School, Pusa Road, will host senator Chris Evans, Australian minister of tertiary education, skills, jobs and workplace relations, as part of a programme which commemorates the 13 years of the Australian - India Principals Exchange. Principal Ameeta Mulla Wattal to present the welcome address that would cover the decade long association of the school with Australia and Asia literacy. Students will be presenting vignettes of the school ethos through song, dance and drama. The audience comprises of a large Australian delegation along with 30 principals from leading schools of Delhi and a group of 25 students and six teachers from Australia visiting India as part of an exchange programme. Springdales Education Society chairperson Rajni Kumar will felicitate the guests on the occasion. The programme will be followed by a reception.

DPS International, Saket, under the aegis of DPS Society, organised its annual inter-school French festival 'Postcards from Paris' (Season 3) recently. Students from different schools participated in various competitive events like French songs, digital presentations on France, recitation of French poetry etc. The prize distribution ceremony was held in the evening with Max Claudet, councillor for culture and cooperation, Embassy of France, as the chief guest. DPS Society chairman Ashok Chandra presided over the function and the program was attended by parents, dignitaries, members of the DPS Society and principals of different schools. The overall trophy was bagged by DPS, Vasant Kunj with DPS International, Saket and DPS, Indrapuram emerging as runners-up.

Queen Mary's School, Rohini, hosted the Indrawati Mittal Memorial Inter-School Competition. The competition is a medium to provide a platform to young aspirants to showcase their creative, dramatic, literary and artistic skills. Leading schools of Delhi enthusiastically participated exhibiting their theatrical, imaginative and creative talents. The ceremonial lamp of knowledge and sanctity was lit by Mangat Ram Mittal. A plethora of competitions like folk fusion, character dramatisation, street play, vaad vivaad, hasya kavita, poster making etc. were held. The judges applauded the efforts of the students and congratulated the principal Nalini Andrew. The three-day competition culminated with prize distribution function. The rolling trophy was awarded to Gitarattan Jindal Public School for their excellent performance. The competition was an amalgamation of endowment and creativity imbibing the spirit of competition and opening avenues for the young generation.

Bluebells School Internation-al, Kailash Colony, celebrated Nelson Mandela Day. Chief guests on the occasion were Deborah M Balatsengh, deputy commissioner, South African high commission and the founder principal-now-director G Soni. The students organised a medley of song, dance, poetry and drama in veneration of the 93-year-old world icon. The event began with a melodious play by the students of the Indian choir. The budding poets evoked memories of Mandela's journey from prison to freedom. A skit covering the major events of his life celebrated his successful battle against apartheid. The chief guest appreciated the efforts of the school reminding one and all that true freedom and fearlessness will only arise from courage and sacrifice.
