Squall hits flight movements

Friday’s squall hampered flight movements at the Delhi airport, delaying at least 50 flights by one to six hours. Due to bad weather conditions between 4pm and 5pm, most arrivals during that period were affected.

Arriving flights were delayed by two to six hours and the cascading effect of the delays was felt in the evening as well. Though departures were not as badly affected, these flights too got delayed by one to two hours.

Two Jet Airways flights had to make a go around as they failed to land at the airport but landed safely the second time. Though the wind speed was recorded at 20 kmph, the presence of clouds made it difficult for flights to land,” said RK Jenamani, Director-in-Charge, IGIA Met unit.
