Two Australian swimmers landed at the medical centre of SP Mukherjee Aquatics Complex with complains of stomach infection on Wednesday.

Although the Organising Committee officials are yet to find out the cause of infection, an inquiry panel set up to look into the matter collected water samples in the afternoon to check if it was due to water contamination.
Rumours were rife that the water in the swimming venues could be contaminated. “Water contamination seems to be an unlikely cause, these people may have eaten something from the outside,” said a health official on duty at the medical centre in the complex.
Two foreign technicians are getting treated at GB Pant Hospital for gastroenteritis.
