Vivek Bharadwaj, 29, was walking to his C-block home from his sister Ekta’s house in the next block on Tuesday night when the attackers waylaid him.

Sharad Aggarwal DCP (west) said Bharadwaj, a resident of Hoshiarpur in Punjab, was an IT professional at a Noida firm. His pregnant wife and one-year-old daughter had gone back to Hoshiarpur for the baby’s delivery, Bharadwaj’s landlady said.

A semi-conscious Bharadwaj gave his details to a passerby, who informed his family, police said. According to a police officer, Bharadwaj — a heavily-built man — was repeatedly stabbed with sharp weapons below the abdomen when he resisted his assailants’ attempt to rob him.

“Nature of the injuries led to severe blood loss, which caused his death,” the officer said.
