Accused Pawan Gupta, Vinay and bus driver Ram Singh turned down the TIP for the second time. The TIP was to be done by the victim's male friend, the only eyewitness to the assault.

Pawan and Vinay told the metropolitan magistrate that they deserved to be hanged. The court remanded the duo along with Singh to 14 days of judicial custody. The Saket district court also witnessed a huge gathering of protesters.

Meanwhile, the lawyers' association at Saket passed a resolution urging advocates not to take up the case of any of the accused as the offence was "inhuman and barbaric".

Akshay Thakur, a co-accused, was sent to Tihar jail on Sunday night. He would undergo the TIP on December 26.
