Traffic cops battle ready for WC match

The Delhi traffic police have made elaborate security arrangements in view of the ICC World Cup match between West Indies and the Netherlands at the Ferozshah Kotla ground on Monday.

The Delhi traffic police have made elaborate security arrangements in view of the ICC World Cup match between West Indies and the Netherlands at the Ferozshah Kotla ground on Monday.

While there will be no parking facilities available for the general public at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, sources said very limited parking space will be made available for labelled vehicles in the proximity of the stadium.

Vehicles parked on these areas will be towed away, said Satyendra Garg, joint commissioner of police (traffic).

He added that park and ride facilities will be available at Mata Sundari and Shanti Van parking lots.

The traffic police have also advised the general public to avoid some of the roads connecting Rajghat and JLN Marg, Asaf Ali Road and Delhi Gate, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Delhi Gate between 12 noon and 3.30pm, and 9.30pm and 11.30pm. Spectators will not be allowed to bring electronic items, eatables, water bottles, cigarette lighter, match boxes, knives and arms inside the stadium, police said.
