Two schoolboys kill themselves in separate incidents

A 14-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his home in south Delhi’s Mehrauli on Sunday.

A 14-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his home in south Delhi’s Mehrauli on Sunday.

The boy’s suicide came on a day a 15-year-old student of Class 11 allegedly hung himself and died at his Gulabi Bagh home.

The Mehrauli boy, a Class 9 student of Mother’s International School, Sri Aurobindo Marg, was found hanging from the grille of the ventilator above his room’s door by his parents.

“The boy had locked himself inside his room and was not answering his parents’ calls. They forced the door open and found him hanging,” said a senior police officer. According to the police, the father of the boy teaches Sanskrit at the same school.

The parents called the police at 12.30pm. The boy was rushed to a nearby government hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The police did not find a suicide note from the house.

“The reason for the suicide is still not clear. We are talking to the parents to ascertain why he took this drastic step,” the officer added.

The 15-year-old was the son of a sessions judge. It was his father who found him hanging in his room and called the police.

He was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The boy was a student of Mata Jai Kaur Public School, Ashok Vihar.
