“The doctors who conducted the autopsy have ascertained that she had been attacked by a sharp object on her neck - the assailant slashed her throat from the left to right hand side- leading to her death,” said a senior police officer.
According to the police, the woman’s identity is yet to be established despite more than 70 people turning up for her verification at the New Delhi railway station police station since the body was discovered on February 11.
“The woman had blue eyes and a peacock tattoo etched on her abdomen. We are certain that she was killed barely three or four hours before being dumped at the parking lot on the morning of February 11. The spot where the bag was dumped was not covered by any close circuit television camera (CCTV) so we were unable to extract any footage,” the officer said.
The police said they had examined as many as 700 guesthouses and hotels located within a five kilometre radius from the spot where the body was found but were still looking for clues.
“We have also questioned the auto rickshaw driver, who claims to have seen a man and a woman dropping the bag outside the railway station. However, he has not been able to provide any further clue in the case,” the officer added.
