A three-member committee will select vice-chancellor (V-C) of the Punjab Technical University (PTU), technical education minister Charanjit Singh Channi said on Thursday.

The minister stated this during his visit to the under-constriction new campus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Ropar. He said IIT Ropar director Prof SK Das will be one of the members of the committee. He said there would be no political consideration in the selection of the PTU V-C.
Channi also urged the IIT Ropar director to extend support in setting up a skill development university at Chamkaur Sahib. He said a joint team of government officials and faculty members of IIT Ropar would be constituted, which would help prepare a model of the skill development university.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Das said the construction of the first phase of the new campus of IIT Ropar would be completed by December this year.
