With the festive season in full swing on the campus, students can look forward to revelries at KC College’s annual fest, Kiran, that begins today.
The two-day cultural gala will host events adhering to the theme of this year — ‘the rise’. Kiran will also boast of a new revamped mascot, a phoenix, which will adorn all their posters and banners. “The phoenix is our identity; and this year, we will be paying tribute to revolutionaries from all spheres of life, ” says Priyank Gupta, chairperson, Kiran 2012.
Keeping the theme in mind, a round table conference event, In The Heat Of The Moment will require participants to play the character of a revolutionary. “They have to discuss, argue and give solutions in a way a true revolutionary would have. We don’t expect Mahatma Gandhi to propose war or Mark Zuckerberg to talk about Internet censorship!” says Zeba Warsi, PR head, Kiran 2012.
This year, all participating contingents will also need to have a mascot. So one can expect the likes of Mahatma Gandhi, Steve Jobs and even Lady Gaga tottering around the campus. And a photography contest, Stalk The Mascot will require competitors to click candid pictures of the mascot of another contingent.
For the first time, Kiran will also host a unique music contest, Blaze — Guitar Wars, which will see a face-off between solo instrumentalists. “We are getting bigger and better this year. The students have worked really hard and I know it will be a great show,” says Manju Nichani, principal, KC college.
