HIGHLIGHTS: Bihar board 10th result 2017 declared, Lakhisarai’s Prem Kumar tops

The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) on Thursday declared the result of the Class 10, or matriculation examination 2017.

The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) on Thursday declared the result of the Class 10, or matriculation examination 2017. The examination was held between March 1 and 8 and 17, 23, 911 students appeared. Check your BSEB Class 10th result here. Bihar 10th result: Here are the highlights

4.30pm: In Patna, more girl candidates (41,539) appeared in the examination compared to boys (36,750). The pass percentage for girls here is 53.74% while for boys it is 44.60%.

3:40pm:Second rank holder will get Rs. 50,000, a laptop and a kindle

3:35pm: Third rank holders will get Rs. 15,000 and a laptop and a kindle

3:30 pm: Topper will get Rs. 1 lakh as scholarship, a laptop and a Kindle e-reader

3.20pm: BSEB says students can apply for scrutiny between June 26 and July 6. The result of scrutiny will be announced by end of July.

3pm: Second topper Bhavya Kumari said: “During physical verification, I had to appear for an interview in front of a panel of subject experts who asked me different questions.”Asked what she wanted to become, Kumari said, “I want to crack the UPSC (civil services) exams.”

2.55pm: “I am really happy with my performance,” said Harshita Kumari, who stood third.

2.50pm: Topper Prem Kumar, son of a hotel owner in Lakhisarai, said he was satisfied with his result and teachers and parents guided him well in studies. He wants to become an IAS officer.

1.41pm: BSEB chairperson Anand Kishore addresses the press conference. He says: “Due to grace marks the overall result of this year is better. Last year the pass percent was 46.6%. There is a 3% increase in the pass percentage this year. This year the exam was conducted strictly. CCTV in all exam centres... Bar-coding in answer sheets helped keep the identity of candidates concealed. Candidates who could not reach to board office during physical verification because of being in other state, BSEB gave them the expense of coming to Patna by flight.”

1.40pm: Maximum students in top 10 are from Simultala High School.

1.32 pm: Bhavya Kumari of Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya, Jamui is second topper with 92.8%. She has 464 marks out of 500.

1.31pm: Prem Kumar of Shree Govind High School Mano, Lakhisarai has topped the exam with 93% marks. He has got 465 marks out of 500.

1.30pm: 13.91% have passed in first division, 26.88% have passed in second division, 9.32% have passed in third division. The overall pass percentage is 50.12%

1.29pm: Result declared, 17, 23, 911 students appeared, 8,63, 250 students passed

1.24pm: Officials arrive at the venue of declaration of result

1.18pm: There is speculation that the pass percentage will be between 48-50%

1. 16 pm: The press conference for declaration of result has yet not begun. BSEB chairperson Anand Kishore and other official have not arrived.

The board completed physical verification of the top 10 rank holders on Monday after experts took oral and written test of the toppers.

From this year onwards, the board has decided to grant eight grace marks to students to improve the pass percentage. BSEB will grant eight marks to students who fail in one subject and four in each subject if the student fails in two subjects. Last year the pass percentage was 44.60%.
