Annapurna Debnath, a Class 10 student, was reportedly insulted by some of her friends on March 8 during an English examination. They even complained to the invigilator that she was cheating and carrying chits of paper with her.

The invigilator, however, did not find any answer chit with her.

Debnath told her mother about the incident and she was found hanging in her room on Thursday.

“She was extremely upset since the day. We never thought that she would take such an extreme step,” her father said.

Though her family members have not filed any complaint, officials at the GBP Outpost police station registered a case of unnatural death.

Police sources said they found a suicide note from her room where she had stated about the incident.

“We have just found the suicide note from the room. It seems that she had committed suicide following the insult,” sources said.

They said an autopsy was conducted on the girl’s body and the report is yet to come.
