Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct Class 12 final examinations from February 15 and the exams are likely to get over by April 10. Ahead of board exams, CBSE has issued sample papers and marking schemes for both Class 10 and Class 12. Students can download it from cbseacademic.nic.in.

Here is a look at the Class 12 Geography sample paper – paper pattern, marking scheme, etc.

  • The maximum marks allotted to the CBSE Class 12 Geography theory paper is 70 and students have to answer it in three hours.
  • This question paper contains 30 questions and all questions are compulsory.
  • This question paper is divided into five sections. Sections- A, B, C, D and E.
  • Section A or question numbers 1 to 17 are Multiple Choice type questions carrying 1 mark each.
  • Section B consists of questions 18 and 19 which are source based questions carrying 3 marks each.
  • Section C or question number 20 to 23 are short answer type questions carrying 3 marks each. Answer to these questions are to be written in 80 to 100 words.
  • Section D – question number 24 to 28 – consists of long answer type questions carrying 5 marks each. Answer to these questions should be written in 120 to 150 words.
  • Section E or question number 29 and 30 are map based questions.
