DU admissions highlights: First cut-off list to be released on June 20

The Delhi University held a press meet to announce its admission process for this academic year today. Officials outlined that the first cut-off list will be announced on June 20. The university is also expected to announce changes in the admission process for 61 colleges across the city. Guidelines for St Stephen’s and Jesus and Mary College will be announced later.

DU will start the process for admissions to around 54,000 seats in undergraduate courses from May 22. The last date for registration has not been announced yet.

For 57 courses across different colleges last year, DU had received over 3.6 lakh applications. English Hons was the most sought after course last year with around 1.15 lakh applications.

4.40pm: List of documents to be uploaded:
Passport size photo
Signature of applicant
Self-attested copy of Class X marks sheet
Self-attested copy of SC/ST/OBC and others
Self-attested copy of sports certificate of extra-curricular activity certificate
Self-attested copy of Class XII marks sheet if result is announced
In case marks sheet is not issued by the board, then the self-attested copy of the marks sheet downloaded from the respective board’s website should be uploaded

4.35pm: The last date to fill Delhi University online registration form for undergraduate courses is June 12.

4.33pm: When applicant fills her Board roll number in DU online application form,Board marks will automatically be uploaded in form:Officials

4.30pm: First cut-off list for undergraduate courses to be announced on June 20.

4.20pm: After successful registration of admission, applicants will receive a confirmation pop-up message on home page, an email and message on their mobile number.  

4. 15pm: Delhi University: There are 60 courses in 61 Delhi University colleges which will begin the online registration process from May 22

3.55pm: Last year over 2.5 lakhs students applied for various undergraduate courses. Almost 50% of the applicants were from Delhi.

3.45pm: Every year the university gets lakhs of applications for around 63 colleges offering undergraduate courses.

3.35pm: Students applying under sports quota will also have to give a sports specific fitness test, instead of a common fitness test.

3.25pm: For those applying under sports quota, there is a slight change as the weightage given to sports trial is likely to be increased to 60% instead of 50%.

3.15pm: The admission process to be announced today will be for 54,000 seats.

3.10pm: Courses that will have entrance test are: Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) Bachelor of Business Administration (Financial Investment Analysis), BA(Hons) Business Economics, BA (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences, Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.), Bachelor of Science in Physical Education,
Health Education & Sports: B.Sc. (P.E., H.E. & S.) B.A. (Hons.) Multimedia and Mass Communication B.Tech. (Information Technology and Mathematical Innovations) B.A. (Hons.)
Music: For other courses the admission is based on cutoff marks based on an applicant’s score in Class XII Board results.

3pm: Announce about changes in admission process and guidelines likely at 4pm.

2.50pm: The university is starting the online registration process almost two weeks ahead of its usual schedule for courses in which admission is based on cut-off. Developments so far

On Friday, the university announced a special drive to enroll students from African nations. The university in its press statement said that they have begun reaching out to the embassies of the continent and have got an enthusiastic response. Around 300 applications have been received from African students. The last date for online registration of foreign students has been extended to May 31. DU also announced a helpline to handle queries from foreign students. Students can write to and and call 91-11-27666756.

For admission related queries, DU is set to hold a 10 day ‘Open Days’ starting Monday. The university conducts Open Days every year to counsel and guide admission seekers and their guardians. “It will start from May 22 (Monday) and will continue till May 31 at the North Campus’ conference centre. It will start at 10am and end at 1pm,” DU registrar Tarun Das said.

An admission help desk will also be set up at the north campus conference centre, which will be open from 10 am till 5pm on all working days.
