Besides the add-on courses run at different colleges, the university’s Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC), arts faculty, also offers programmes in five disciplines: news reading and cinematography (media studies); information and communication technologies (ICT); disability and human rights; English (basic and advanced level); and sign language and interpretation. “Barring ICT, these programmes are meant for all undergraduate students (disabled or otherwise). But we have added a small capsule on disability studies in all these courses to make young people aware of disability,” says Dr Nisha Singh, officer on special duty, EOC.
These programmes are career-oriented “to an extent”.
The fee for these five-month courses is Rs 1,000-2,000, and for media studies, it is Rs 10,000. But if a worthy candidate cannot pay, there is a provision of fee waiver, too.
The last date for application is January 4 and the session begins on January 11.
